Ahh, that's the bit I was missing. it's loaded recovery.elf instead of start.elf, would it make sense to default to enable_uart=1 even on a Pi3 (i.e. I want to release my 4.1.21 today but I'd like to get that resolved first if at all possible. The version hash returned from both firmware builds from last night shows that they were freshly built, but without the most recent firmware commits. I'm really desperate. init_uart_clock is meaningless for the mini-UART since the source clock is the core clock, but I think it would be reasonable to pre-configure the mini-UART using the value in init_uart_baud. share|improve this answer edited Sep 6 '15 at 21:04 Peter Mortensen 1,538916 answered Jan 7 '15 at 23:50 cwd 2211311 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign

From today, a clean Raspbian install that has been rpi-updated will output to the serial port by default unless it is a Pi3, in which it is disabled unless enable_uart is This can be done in the shell with the sleep program: sleep infinity >/dev/ttyAMA0 & In a shell script, the following commands may be used to kill the sleep process once I am using this as a coprocessor for vision tasks an a flying quad.
That's not working either... At least, that's the reasoning NVIDIA applied when choosing the default pinmux setup for the Jetson TX1 Developer Kit's GPIO expansion header, which happens to have the same pinout as the swarren commented Mar 15, 2016 pelwell, did you get a chance to think about this? Raspberry Pi 3 Serial Port Not Working Just noting on RPi3B v1.2 (jessie 8.0, 4.4.13-v7+), I had to disable serial getty usingsudo systemctl disable [email protected] that (and some cmdline editing), serial was free for me to use.
I was also getting problem of Serial Port Communication with Raspberry PI.As you suggested in one of your post I have downloaded the serial loopback programhttp://unicorn.drogon.net/serialTest.c and tested it on my Raspberry Pi Serial Loopback Test I am starting to guess that I just have a bad pi 3 - but thought I would ask first. Thanks for any and all input ReplyWayne November 1, 2016 at 1:32 There is a serial link to the quad's flight controller that talks to ttyAMA0. swarren commented Mar 22, 2016 @pelwell thanks - the new FW revision is much better.

use the mini-uart (/dev/ttyS0) for Bluetooth (you may get some loss of performance on your Bluetooth though). You can also just disable the Bluetooth all together by using another overlay “pi3-disable-bt”. The communications works perfectly on pi 0 - just need more computation. Minicom Raspberry Pi Uart Running a serial application on the Pi and you should see the output echoed back. Note that the mini UART HW docs state that it has some implementation limitations, IIRC including not validating the value of stop bits.

- By setting the core VPU clock to the minimum value (250) you avoid this problem.
